There is a song that the church used to sing that says “Shine on me, Shine on me, Let the light from the lighthouse shine on me. A lighthouse is a tower with an extremely strong light that serves as a navigational aid. It also warns of dangerous hazards.
If the light from God’s lighthouse were to shine on you, what would we see? Would we see the image of Christ or would we see the world? The pattern of light that comes from God’s lighthouse is a fixed steady beam that directs our footsteps. His word is our lighthouse, “Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.” (Ps 119:105); “The entrance of thy words giveth light… ” (Ps 119:130). If we would just follow the light that God has provided we could stay on the right path and when the light from the Lighthouse is shined on us, the people will see the image of Christ and not the world.
